NEW BIRTH

I hear the sound of my name in the wind

I stop. I look. I turn, but there’s no one here

Maybe it’s my mind playing games

Maybe it’s the wind playing tricks

But I hear it again, louder, clearer

This is no mind thing, this is not a wind trick

Someone called my name

Is this my Samuel moment?

Write it down, I hear, Make it plain, I’m told

But what to write? And what to make plain?

I  turn to the scriptures, searching frantically

By myself, I say, feeling I can do all things

After all, the Bible says so

Once again I hear my name

Trust me, Child

I am everything you need

Every step of  every way

Every breath in and out

Every blink and every thought

When you have come into full understanding then and only then will you enjoy the benefits.

I went back to the scriptures, this time not by myself but with the guidance of the Father

As I read, words become pictures

I see them now; before they were mere words

A better understanding,a deeper meaning, literally feeling like I can hold it.

Joy fills my soul; I know I can take rest.

2016!!!

Happy New year guys!!!
Hope you are starting this year on a good note? If you aren’t it’s a good time to. “…forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…”
Whatever it is you have gone through in 2015, my little advice is that you drop it where it belongs, holding on to it is like excess luggage and the flight might not take off and even if you drag it along you will definitely have to pay for the excess luggage, so why even bother? It’s definitely of no use for you.
Start this year afresh just like a breath of new air, why don’t you just try it now, ; Take a deep breath in, and the then out. Feels great right? That’s how you should take this year.
Why not live one day at a time. Take each day as it comes, good or bad just remember it was created and at the end of it all, things will work out together for your good as long as you believe.
It’s okay to have resolutions,  goals, dreams and determinations but be disciplined enough to follow it up. You will go a long way if you do.
As much as we look forward to the best This year, storms will come we can only pray that it will passover us. “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.”
This year has a lot to offer so just remain focused and most importantly trust God. He has said it and he will do it, it’s just a matter of time.
Happy New year once again. Cheers to a fabulous 2016.🎆🎆🎆

Sometimes…

Sometimes you want to ask why

Sometimes you just want to curse God

Sometimes you feel all odds are against you

Sometimes you are done hearing all the “It is well” “God will do it

Sometimes you just wonder what you didn’t do right

Sometimes you begin to think about all the sins you have committed between the time of the promise and the fulfilment

Sometimes you just want to end it all

Sometimes you conclude that God has forgotten you

You even think HE has gone on a “vacay

Sometimes you think it’s time to throw in the towel

Why don’t you pick up that towel, wipe your sweat and tears, move on

Because, ALL THE TIME, God was and is still there!

HE will sort you out.

In the beginning, the Earth was without Form and Void, until God began to speak. It is interesting however that God called everything into existence except Man. When it came time to form you, Heaven was at full attention, and so Man was Formed by God from the dust of the ground. This mode of Formation required a touch and from the days of Adam till now Man has required a constant touch from God.

In Clinical Psychology there’s what is called “Deprivation Dwarfism” this basically is the separation of New born babies (Newly Formed) into two categories. Both categories are given the same love and attention, they are fed the same thing (Hear the same Word from God), are in the same place (Go to the same church). The only differentiating factor between the two categories is that one set are ‘Touched’ in terms of being carried, drawn close and held while the other set are not. After a while it is noticed that the set of those who were ‘Touched’ end up growing Bigger, Stronger and generally more Functional than the latter.

This is the same with God and Man, you cannot be Formed and simply run off as though you are self sufficient. Yes, you hear the word, Yes – you go to church but the lack of a touch has left a lot spiritually dwarfed! In this context the touch is being Filled with the Breath of life, with Holy Ghost and with Power.

It’s a wonderful thing to be Filled but it also places a heavy responsibility on us, because then you have Give as you receive. We all know receiving is the easy part, giving is where the challenge is. A container filled out of capacity will probably explode, so will an over charged battery or an over-fed person (LOL…but we know Obesity kills). This happens when you receive so much and give absolutely nothing back.

If you have been Formed & Filled, then you ought to Function! If you purchase a phone or anything at all that does not function in the purpose it was created for, you either return it to get a replacement or if it had functioned but didn’t go as far as expectation you toss it aside (Separation from the Body of Christ). You have got no other choice than to Function!

The question you may ask is Function where and in what capacity? Well to begin with we know God’s expectation for us from His Word…Prosper, Be in Health, Have Dominion, Subdue, Replenish.

Understand that we need a constant touch and we definitely need a constant Filling. That is why a Hug or a kind word in the middle of a crisis can make all the difference, just like you need to charge and recharge your mobile devices to get you through the day sometimes you need to be Filled a little more than others to be able to Function in that thing God has called you to.

Are you Formed? Are you Filled? Then you have to Function!

Bad investments yields no profit, if heaven has put this much in you, what are you waiting for? Go and yield profit!

Receive Fresh Unction to Function

Ps; Big shout out to Tmoney!  Thanks for featuring😆😇

Did you know?

In the spirit of Christmas, I’m sure we are all familiar with the 12 days of Christmas song. I remember how I sing it joyfully every year, little did I know there was a greater meaning to it. I learnt it recently and so I thought to share.

The true love mentioned in the song is God and the Me is us…

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

A Partridge in a Pear Tree

The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, whose birthday we celebrate on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, recalling the expression of Christ’s sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: “Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered you under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but you would not have it so . . . .” (Luke 13:34)

On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Two Turtle Doves

The Old and New Testaments, which together bear witness to God’s self-revelation in history and the creation of a people to tell the Story of God to the world.

On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Three French Hens

The Three Theological Virtues:  1) Faith, 2) Hope, and 3) Love (1 Corinthians 13:13)

On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Four Calling Birds

The Four Gospels: 1) Matthew, 2) Mark, 3) Luke, and 4) John, which proclaim the Good News of God’s reconciliation of the world to Himself in Jesus Christ.

On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Five Gold Rings

The first Five Books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or the Pentateuch:  1) Genesis, 2) Exodus, 3) Leviticus, 4) Numbers, and 5) Deuteronomy, which gives the history of humanity’s sinful failure and God’s response of grace in the creation of a people to be a light to the world.

On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Six Geese A-laying

The six days of creation that confesses God as Creator and Sustainer of the world (Genesis 1).

On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Seven Swans A-swimming

The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: 1) prophecy, 2) ministry, 3) teaching, 4) exhortation, 5) giving, 6) leading, and 7) compassion (Romans 12:6-8; cf. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11)

On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Eight Maids A-milking

The eight Beatitudes: 1) Blessed are the poor in spirit, 2) those who mourn, 3) the meek, 4) those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, 5) the merciful, 6) the pure in heart, 7) the peacemakers, 8) those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake. (Matthew 5:3-10)

On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Nine Ladies Dancing

The nine Fruit of the Holy Spirit: 1) love, 2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness,

6) generosity, 7) faithfulness, 8) gentleness, and 9) self-control.  (Galatians 5:22-23)

On the 10th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Ten Lords A-leaping

The ten commandments: 1) You shall have no other gods before me; 2) Do not make an idol; 3) Do not take God’s name in vain; 4) Remember the Sabbath Day; 5) Honor your father and mother; 6) Do not murder; 7) Do not commit adultery; 8) Do not steal; 9) Do not bear false witness; 10) Do not covet. (Exodus 20:1-17)

On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Eleven Pipers Piping

The eleven Faithful Apostles: 1) Simon Peter, 2) Andrew, 3) James, 4) John, 5) Philip, 6) Bartholomew, 7) Matthew, 8) Thomas, 9) James bar Alphaeus, 10) Simon the Zealot, 11) Judas bar James.  (Luke 6:14-16).  The list does not include the twelfth disciple, Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus to the religious leaders and the Romans.

On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Twelve Drummers Drumming

The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostles’ Creed: 1) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 2) I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. 3) He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. 4) He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell [the grave]. 5) On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. 6) He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 7) I believe in the Holy Spirit, 8) the holy catholic Church, 9) the communion of saints, 10) the forgiveness of sins, 11) the resurrection of the body, 12) and life everlasting.

WOW!!! Right? Now that we all know, we can sing the song with a greater understanding.

Seasons greetings folks😆

Still Overwhelmed

So I am here thinking, it’s been a long year!!! Above all, God has been good. I have had series of ups and downs, highs and lows, sometimes I just wanted to give up, but God and loved ones kept me strong. I imagine how I don’t deserve such grace but God has just chosen to love me. I will quickly share my after school life so far and how God kept me, I hope you learn from it.

Graduation came and everyone was glad, not for so many reasons but because finally we get to leave the University of Lagos for good. I was really grateful not because my grades were the best but because I had been through a lot (Ask Biochemistry students, they will tell you better), at some point I thought I was going to have extra year, I fought so hard and of course with God on my side, the battle was won. I learnt a whole lot in school and thank God for Sovereign Army Fellowship where lateness is not condoned, from there I guess I was ready for the ‘outside world’.

I was working before I finished school and work was good. I enjoyed every bit of it until one day I was told I couldn’t work there any more because of some funny reasons. At that moment I thought of so many things, but of course there was this peace inside of me, I worry a lot (loads of people can testify to this🙈) but there was just this calmness around me.

My jobless days began and I tried using it to read and I achieved a little. I used this moment also to get closer to God, knowing fully well that I was a little behind our ‘Schedule’. This precious Sunday came and someone walked up to me, saying I was needed for a job, and of course I took the job. This Job paid so much more and came with loads of benefits attached to it. Looking at my grades and who I am, trust me I didn’t deserve the job. With a grateful heart, I enjoyed the job until NYSC came.

Now NYSC was another issue because here I was thinking I will be in Lagos and I was posted to Kaduna(yea, many people didn’t want me to go)but I had to. So I went with the mindset of, I will be back in 3 weeks. Redeployment list came out and my name wasn’t there, I was in shock in fact I almost passed out because I thought of how I’d be alone, my classmate who was with me was redeployed.  I remember how she told me that I will enjoy Kaduna and that I should wait, she even took down names of local government for me and the phone numbers. I just knew in my heart that I wasn’t going to stay there. It was the end of camp and still no redeployment, people collected their letters of primary assignment for some funny reasons I just didn’t collect mine, I even wrote that I wanted to be redeployed,  I remembered the lady saying,”You will stay in kaduna for at least 3months before we even consider your redeployment. Also remove that Lagos you put there because they won’t answer you “. I didn’t change anything and  I came back to Lagos with worries in my heart but boldness in some part of me. After all said and done, I was called one month after to come and get my letter, on getting there I was told I will get query because I didn’t get my ppa letter(at this time, I didn’t know where I was posted to), at the end of it all, I got my letter body written LAGOS and no query. I grinned from chin to chin with gratefulness in my heart.

I still had my job at that time. When I got back to Lagos, another job was waiting for me, I did all my necessary registration and continued my work until NYSC came again and rejected my letter of request to remain at my work place. I was baffled and worried again but little did I know that God had it all planned. I went to where I was posted and I spoke to the lady in charge she said, there wasn’t any space for me but because she saw how worried I was she will accept me and help me. I was of course grateful again. Had some issues at my work place and I had to leave again.

Now, I wasn’t so much worried because I wasn’t totally idle, but I still needed to do something during the day because my old job was more of evenings and meetings.

I kept waiting till a certain lady called one day and said “I don’t know why I but your name dropped in my heart, are you looking for a job?” I was in shock and overwhelmed. I was a bit scared, couldn’t point out why but I eventually took the job and so far,  I have been enjoying it.

People will say “Oh Funke, you have connection and oh you are popular”, I just smile and say in my heart, I have got God and He is the most popular and the owner of all connection. So far He has been good to me and I am STILL OVERWHELMED.

What’s it been like?

Hey people!!!
It is a new year in a bit, I’m sure most of us are anticipating and making resolutions already. Some have already mapped out what 2014 is going to be like, some are wondering how the year is going to be, some are worried because this year wasn’t how it was planned and are bothered that next year might be like that…
One thing I’ve learnt this year is that man can only plan… We might have had it all planned out but it might not work out that way. I remembered writing here earlier in the year that we should make it a year of “Me and God” and my advice still stays both for the few hours left this year and for next year…
God is the only certain one, I also learnt that HE can be trusted. Just leave all your cares and worries behind, he’s surely got them. He has promised severally and one thing I know for sure is that HE can never fail, he has and will never go back on his word. Just in case you have forgotten, here are some of his promises;
“The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.” You might think you have struggled too much, what HE is simply saying here is that you should hold on to him. Our timing is not the same thing as his timing, once he has said it, he will do it.
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”
“I, God, am doing the speaking. What I say happens. None of what I say is on hold. What I say, I’ll do—and soon”. All of these and many more are his promises, all he needs from you is for you to hold on.
Even as we go into the new year I want you to remember this; “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”.
Now here’s the conclusion of the matter, have faith in God and trust him to see you through.
See you all in 2014

PS; Thank you all for being a part of my 2013. Y’all are amazing. Love you loads :*

Gaurd your heart with all diligence….
